Recommendations on what to watch, see, hear and follow right now
Earlier this month, Stephen was ask to make recommendations for the latest Smartify ‘Museum Reset’ newsletter. Here they are:
An idea worth knowing
"AI/Artificial Intelligence (scrap the humans) vs. IA/Intelligence Augmented (enhanced human performance)." My business hero Tom Peters reminds us that tech should facilitate human life and experiences, not replace them.
A podcast worth listening to
The Intuitive Customer by Colin Shaw and Prof. Ryan Hamilton. Colin is a global influencer in what I call the art and science of customer experience management, and together with Prof. Shaw, an expert on shopper decision-making, this entertaining and thought-provoking podcast focuses on how to manage customer experience to drive value.
A book worth reading
How We Eat: the Brave New World of Food and Drink, by Paco Underhill. Paco knows more about the psychology of shopping than probably anyone else on the planet, and this new book shows how our broken global food system can be, and is being, reinvented for a sustainable future.
A show worth seeing
Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre, London, is a remarkable theatrical event. On arrival you are immersed in “the party at the of end of the world” in the Kit Kat Club, in a series of themed bars with unforgettable entertainment. The show itself is a world away from the Fosse/Minnelli screen version; in its dark depiction of the futility of hedonistic pleasures in the teeth of the gathering Nazi storm, it reminds us of another gathering storm on Europe’s eastern flank today. The lead performances are knockout too.
An Instagram account worth following
The Gentle Author depicts the history and people of London’s Spitalfields in a hugely authentic and personal way. Having lived in the area a few years ago I know how special it is, and how much of its uniqueness is under threat from developers, or has already been destroyed.
